Dierks Christmas events set for Dec. 10

Holiday festivities in Dierks will begin with a Christmas Parade on Monday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.

Parade entries will begin lining up at 5:30 at the Dierks High School. The parade route will be from the high school to Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church. First-place entries will be recognized in civic, commercial and church categories.

Following the parade, the holiday fun will continue at the parking lot across from the methodist church. New lighting and plug-ins have been added to the parking lot and there will be a Christmas tree decorating contest as well as local music and singing.

The Dierks Chamber of Commerce will give away five $100 gift certificates and the kids may sign up that night for a drawing to win an iPod Touch. Two of the iPod devices will be given away.

Santa Claus will also be on hand.

There will be no charge for any individual or group that would like to set up a booth in the parking lot, but the chamber if asking that you call the city building at 286-2671 to register. Booth set-up can begin at 4:30 p.m. and participants are asked to bring their own extension cords.
