Arraignments set; pleas heard in Howard County court Jan. 3

The report of a female teenage runway on the day after Christmas led to sexual assault charges against a 36-year-old Dierks woman who pleaded not guilty, last Thursday, in criminal court here.

Amy D. Fennell of Dierks is charged with the class A felony. She appeared before Judge Ted Capeheart who set April 3 for pretrial motions, and April 9 for a trial.  Fennell is a youth teacher and bus driver at a north Howard County church.

Three other persons entered not guilty pleas in the day of court delayed one day because of the New Years holiday.

Jamie Garcia, 24, white male, 1214 Mine St., Nashville, pleaded not guilty to charges of second degree forgery, class C felony, and theft of property, class D.  He will be represented by Public Defender Aaron Brasel, and pretrial motions will be heard April 3.

A not guilty plea was give by Ryan Stinson, 18, white male, 103 Frost Lane, Nashville, charged with possession of methamphetamines, class D felony. Stinson told the judge he wanted to hire his own attorney, and was told to report back with the attorney on Feb. 6. His bond was reduced to $10,000.

A not true plea was give by Willie May Nunally, 53, black male, Nashville, charged with failure to meet the terms of his probation. He was convicted in June of 2009 of class C felony possession of cocaine, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. His probation revocation trial was set for Feb. 6.July 31.

A guilty plea was given by Trent Harris, 38, black male, 503 S. Washington, Nashville, charged with class D felony terroristic threatening. He was sentenced to four years of probation and fined $1,800.

Two defendants made their first appearances and will be formally arraigned Jan. 9.

One defendant told the judge he still did not have an attorney, and was ordered to report back Jan. 16 with legal representation. Lawrence Swift, Jr., 33, black male, 327 Hill St., Nashville, is out on bail awaiting his trial for a class B felony charge of felon in possession of a firearm.
