Obituary: Johnnie Lee Bishop

Johnnie Lee Bishop, age 88, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., formerly of Nashville, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 in Bryant.

She was born June 14, 1924 in Dierks, Ark., to the late John William and Mary Floyd Martindale. She was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone. Johnnie was a member of the Village Church of Christ in Hot Springs Village. She was a faithful member and regularly attended the lady’s Bible Class when her health would allow. She loved drawing, painting, ceramics and watching her birds. She loved her pets especially her little dogs. She loved to travel and had volunteered in numerous hospitals over the years.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Frank “Tater” Martindale of Nashville.

Her survivors include: her husband, John William Bishop, III of Hot Springs Village; three nieces, Sherron Regauld and husband Michael of Hot Springs Village; Linda Tyler and husband Tommy of Yellville, Ark., and Ann Harris of Fayetteville, Ark.; one nephew, Vasco Martindale of Euless, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Coleman and husband Fagan of Texarkana, Texas, and Tommye Chesshir and husband Bill; and a host of other family and friends.

Services were Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Nashville Funeral Home with a family eulogy. Interment followed in Nashville Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Village Church of Christ or to the Saline Memorial Hospice House.
