Scrappers defeat Leopards, take loss against Mustangs

The Nashville Scrappers picked up a District 7-4A win at Malvern January 11.

The Scrappers came from behind to defeat the Leopards 49-42. Malvern led 18-15 at halftime; the lead changed hands several times in the second half.

Cameron Alexander led Nashville with 14 points, followed by Jose Camacho with 12 and Brandon Shamrock with 8.

Monday night, the Scrappers traveled to Little Rock for a make-up game with Central Arkansas Christian. The Mustangs won the district contest 57-39.

CC led 29-23 at halftime and outscored the Scrappers 28-16 in the second half.

Shamrock was the leading scorer for Nashville with 17 points, followed by Camacho with 11 and Alexander with 6.

The Scrappers will host Bauxite Friday night to open the second half of the conference race.

A district game against Arkansas Baptist that was scheduled for Jan. 15 was postponed because of weather and will be rescheduled.

Wickes Tournament

Nashville split a pair of games in the Wickes Tournament last week.

The Scrappers defeated Acorn 62-30 in their opening game Jan. 9.

The game was close at halftime, with Nashville holding a 22-16 lead.

Shamrock led the Scrappers with 12 points, followed by Camacho with 10, Alexander with 8 and Tesean Green and LaMichael Pettway with 7 each.

The win over Acorn sent Nashville to the semifinals against the host team, Wickes.

The Warriors pulled out a 60–54 win.

Shamrock led Nashville with 18 points. Alexander added 15, with 8 from Camacho and 6 from Stephen Kreul.
