Joyce Newell, age 67 of Magnolia, formerly of Nashville, passed away, Monday, Feb.11, 2013 in Magnolia.

She was born Nov. 12, 1946 in Nashville to Fletcher and Mary Leatherwood Cook. Joyce was a retired Howard County Deputy Circuit Clerk. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville. When her children were involved in showing cattle, Joyce and Don loved going to their shows, and she was considered momma to numerous kids in the area. She loved being outdoors, working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She was just a plain country girl. She loved taking trips, her favorite was going to Lake Charles, La. And Montgomery, Ala.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Cook, and her husband, Don Newell.

Her survivors include: her parents, Fletcher and Mary Cook of Nashville; a daughter, Sheri Newell of Magnolia; a son, Kevin Newell of Magnolia; three grandchildren, Kailey Newell, and Amber and Josh Ainsworth A host of other family and friends.

Services were Thursday, Feb., 14, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Nashville Funeral Home with Glen Green and Michael Launius officiating. Interment followed in Restland Memorial Park .
